Figure 1 - reference images
Sightseeing - N Seoul Tower, 63 Building and Gyeongbokgung Palace
Traditional sport - Tae Kwan Do
Famous Kpop - Psy

Native animal - Killer whales
Fruit - persimmons
Business - samsung

Figure 2 and 3
Figure 2 - actual seize of the palace
Figure 3 - when I scaled it down. The small shapes look attached even though they are not so I had to change each square form outlined to no outline.

Figure 4
I was trying to figure out which one of these persimmons is recognisable and I went for the left one as the right persimmon reminds me of a tomato.

Figure 5 and 6
Figure 5 - I had a problem colouring my N Seoul Tower. What I did was I looked back at my Kuala Lumpur postcard at look at how I coloured one of my towers that looked similar to this N Seoul tower.
Figure 6 - As usual, deciding colours. I went for the right ones.

Figure 7
Figure 7 - This was how it looked.  I asked a few friends about my postcard and no one answered Korea and they asked me these questions :-

'Where does the whale come from ?'
'What do whales have to do with Korea?'
'Do Koreans kill whales or something ?'
'Do they eat whales during their celebrations?'

I want my postcard to be such that whenever people look at it, they know which country it represents. I was almost ready to give up on this postcard. I went back to my 'cities'  my map to look for another city but I could not find the right city that had four colours on its flag as all my cities that have four flag colours > easier to colour the illustrations, with circles on a white background.

But then I decided to go back to Seoul's postcard and  do further research into South Korea. I looked at :
  • Famous sport in Korea - Click here - Taekwando, baseball. Their major sporting event> Summer Olympic 1988 in South Korea > Mascot Hodori, a tiger but I can't do it because people do not recognise the mascot.
  • Business - Samsung - I was planning on adding the logo but on the brief it said no typography allowed so it is a no.
  • Statue in Seoul - click here - Most of them are Buddha statues > similar to some other Buddhist countries
  • I went on google images and searched 'Korea Postcards' but I still haven't found anything interesting
  • Then I looked for Paul and asked him for help then he told me to search 'South Korea' on google images - Some possible ideas to illustrate> traditional armour clothes/hat, Psy (Kpop), traditional clothes.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mammals_of_South_Korea

As well as finding information on the internet, I also asked people on my Facebook as Mr Bingo said 'sometimes social medias are good to ask for people's opinion'

But that wasn't helpful. Sort of.
Up to date my Korea mind map.

So I decided to not use the killer whales for this postcard and replace them with karate, Psy ( A famous Kpop), Samsung. I chose Psy because at one time his song called 'Gangnam Style was famous worldwide ' - might get his main dance pose on that song and illustrate it. Samsung > main Korean business.

There are two main poses in Gangnam style which are :-
I decided to go with the dance pose on the right for the Psy illustration as I thought people would recognise him most from that dance pose, especially I still remember when lots of my friends kept doing that pose whenever they heard Gangnam Style in college.

Figure 8 and 9
Figure 8 - I illustrated this first then realised the position wasn't so good so I decided to re-illustrate it by getting a better photograph from the internet and produced figure 9
