RESPONSIVE : NISE15'

Why do I choose this brief ?
Because I was the designer for the event which run by Leeds University Malaysian Society.

What do I want to get out of it ?

I want to use different fonts on a certificate but still legible and attractive.

What do I need to produce in respond to it ?

  • Three type of certificates but only with one design,
  • to include : Event Coordinator of Leeds University and her name- so she can sign the certificates , Director of NISE 2015 and her name - so she can sign the certificates, President Lumsoc and his name - so he can sign the certificates
  • Leeds University, Leeds University Malaysian Society and NISE logos.

What do you want to produce in respond to it ?
Certificates that contain all the information needed.

We ( me and the NISE event manager) communicated most using Facebook because it was a last minute task. We only met once just to pass the design. I asked her if the design is okay, then she said yes. However on the next day, she told me to add and fix the details. That was quite difficult and I fixed the certificates in rush as I had a COP session at the same time. Working with people really testing my patience and my communication skill. After I fixed the certificates, I emailed her and thank god she was happy about it.

RESPONSIVE : English Support For International Students.

I have a one to one English class with Sheilah from Leeds College of Art. She asked me to design a poster to promote her English class. The target audience is international students from Leeds College of Art. She wanted the poster to be landscape but I advised her to do portrait as I still remember that  my tutor from Extended Diploma in Graphic Design told me that good posters is portrait and 99% posters in the world are portrait and Sheilah agreed.

Above is the poster that I submitted. I like negative space on the poster, it makes the audience look at the information straight away.

Above images shows my poster displayed around college

Study Task One

My two favourite illustrator among these five illustrators are Elise Gravel and Rebecca Eliott ( but I also like Kristyna Baczynski tho !) I like :-

- Elise Gravel  bacause I like her characters and the colour used ! The use of lines with white lines is a good ideas. Plus, I love how she uses handwriting fonts for the typography. Charming !
- Rebecca Eliott because she used a lot of textures ( like I do) but the illustrations still look fresh and not look full of textures and pattern. I love how she added some shades by using the same textures.

What do you already know ?
I already know my area which is character and narrative.
Researched illustrators that might I love

What do you want to know more about ?
Who inspired them
Different lines qualities and textures

What will you do to find out about it ?
Go to their website and email them
Look at my surrounding to see any textures and lines quality.

What themes are you interested in exploring ?
Kindness and love
Things that make people happy

What subjects are you interested in exploring?
People - male and female with variety age and maybe nationality, gifts, phone,  quotes like 'thank you' and 'i love you', home furniture ( bed, table, chair, lamp, computer), food e.g. rice, bread and fruits, sticky notes

What texts have you been exploring ?
I haven't read any texts yet maybe I should go to the library. But I did a questionnaire which helped me with my narrative.
